Ms. Ava L. Kirby

Ava Lovette Kirby was born on May 4, 1962 to Paul H. Kirby, Sr. and Maudesta Muse Kirby. She was the third child of four children. She attended schools within the Hempstead Independent School District. Ava was a cheerleader and participated in various school programs and activities. After graduating from Hempstead High School in 1980, she enrolled at Prairie View A&M University. Ava pursued degrees in engineering, nursing and education. She attained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education with a major of Physical Education. She continued her education with a Master of Education in Counseling, Computer Training, Temporary License Professional Counselor and completed 2,000 hours as a License Professional Counselor Intern. Ava served in numerous capacities throughout her educational and professional career. Her employment experiences include: House/Parent Coordinator and Project Coordinator at Prairie View A&M University; Child Care Worker for Waller County Juvenile Services; Job Developer/Career Counselor for SER Jobs for Progress Inc. and Clinical Therapist II for DePelchin Children’s Center in Houston, Texas; Caseworker/Counselor and Program Director for the Colorado County Youth and Family Services in Columbus, Texas; Program Administrator III at the Brenham State School; and Senior Social Worker/Clinic Manager for the Saint Luke’s Episcopal Health System in Houston, Texas. Ava departed this life on December 16, 2015. She confessed her belief in Christ at an early age and was a member of Mount Corinth Missionary Baptist Church for many years. Ava was preceded in death by: Father, Paul H. Kirby Sr.; Mother, Maudesta Muse Kirby and Brother, Paul H. Kirby, Jr. She leaves to mourn: Son, Quinton Hilliard Carter; Brother, Kelvin Kirby, Sr.; Sister, Maudestine R. Kirby; Sisters-in-law, Mellonie Flowers Kirby and Fay Branch Kirby; Nieces and Nephews; Tamica Kirby Barnes, Paul H. Kirby III (Cristal), Brandon Kirby (Brandi), Mellonie Kirby, Kendell Kirby (Roxsann) and Kelvin Kirby, Jr. (Aviana), along with a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
