Celebrating The Life Of Carla Marie Davis White Carla Marie Davis White, a beloved Christian woman, was quietly embraced by the Lord on Tuesday, August 4, 2020. She was 61 years old. Born March 24, 1959 in Hempstead, Texas to Hulen Mack Davis, Sr. and Irene LaVerne Fry Davis, Carla was the third of seven children. Carla was preceded in death by her father on October 22, 2013. Carla was raised in Prairie View, Texas and at a young age, baptized at St Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church of Prairie View, Texas. She was educated in the Waller County School system and graduated from Waller High School in 1977. Carla attended Prairie View A&M University and graduated as an honor student in the summer of 1980 majoring in Mass Communications. She pursued additional studies in Computer Science at The Ohio State University. In addition, she pursued and obtained a degree in Computer Science from Prairie View A&M University. Carla continued her studies resulting in a Master in Business Administration degree (MBA) from Prairie View A&M University. As a graduate student, Carla also became a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA) Sorority. Following completion of her MBA, Carla began her career working for General Dynamics in Fort Worth, Texas. Carla met the love of her life, Johnnie Lee White, in Fort Worth, whom she married on June 13, 1987 and celebrated 33 wonderful years of marriage. From their union they raised one son, Ryan Christopher White. Family meant everything to Carla. She was on a constant quest to find and foster a relationship with all immediate and extended family members. Carla continued her computer science career while working for General Dynamics, Mrs. Baird’s Bread, Halliburton, and Anixter. Carla began a new phase of her career by working at AT&T for over 20 years. Some of the major projects that she participated on at AT&T included: a new stadium at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, the new Dallas Cowboys stadium and the Dallas City Hall. Carla had a passion for solving customer/ client issues and served as a mentor for several less experienced colleagues. Carla also had a passion for addressing issues of social justice in the city of Prairie View. Carla was an active member and supporter of Point of Light Church in Cedar Hill, Texas where she served in the audio and video functions supporting the music ministry and the pastor’s sermons. Carla departed on Tuesday, August 4, 2020. Family left to cherish Carla’s memory are her loving husband, Johnnie, her son, Ryan, her mother, Irene Davis; three sisters, Glenda Davis Gregory (Terence) , Julie Davis Mack (John - deceased), Wanda Davis; three brothers, Hulen Davis, Jr. (Pamela), Bruce Davis (Dorie), Gene Davis (Keisha); three sister-in-laws, Doris Jean Francis, Jackie White Anderson (Wayne), Cynthia White Robinson (Hillary); two brother-in-laws, Milford White, Lonnie White (Laurie) and a host of nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
