Clara "Ann" Cambric
January 3, 1948 - November 26, 2021
Life’s Journey and Legacy Clara “Ann” Cambric was born on January 3, 1948, to Merclee and Isabell Gee in Hempstead, Texas and raised by her father and stepmother Willie Mae Gee. During her formative years she attended Bethlehem United Methodist Church and accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and continued to walk in His Light all during her life. Although an only child, Ann grew up in a household surrounded by many first cousins, who were more like siblings and family was everything to her! In 1966 Ann graduated from Sam Schwarz High school, where she excelled on the basketball team and then attended Prairie View A&M University. During school Ann enjoyed Math and Home Economics and always wanted to be a mother and wife. She was a wiz at managing any budget. In 1969, Clara married her sweetie, Alfred Cambric and in this union, they raised Demitris, Shonga and Ossie Jamal. In 1971, the Cambric family relocated from Houston, Texas to Kansas City, Missouri. Although Ann enjoyed KC, she missed home and often took train trips back to Texas with her 3 children along for the ride. The family attended Paseo Presbyterian Church and all 3 children helped spread The Gospel thru The Good News Club alongside their parents. Ann helped her children in their sports activities and always woke early to cook full meals for the entire track team. Ann worked for Sears & Roebuck for 30 years and retired from their Receiving Department in 1990. Ann LOVED her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She spent many weekends teaching the kids cursive writing, watching movies and shopping for their school clothes, creating “to get” list and hunting the best sales. Her motto was if it’s $20 or less, it’s mine! She loved to find a great bargain! On November 26, 2021, after a long battle with cancer, Clara “Ann” Cambric passed away and is now in the Loving Arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was proceeded in death by her parents Merclee, Willie Mae and Isabell Gee, stepbrother Charles Shephard, her “Honey” Alfred Cambric and her baby and only son, Ossie Jamal Cambric. Clara leaves to cherish her memory, her loving daughters Demitris Cambric and Shonga Cambric- Williams (Bobby), 6 grandchildren Kevin, Kemelya, Cambric, Keenya, AJ and Cerra and great grandson, Michael and daughter-in law Kimberly; her loving cousins and in-laws who she called brothers and sisters: Frank Smith, Shirley Manuel, Faye Gage, Zoe Baker, Shirley Bryant-Harper, Leroy Cambric (Joyce), Leon Cambric (Virginia), Adele Jackson (Joseph), Doris Bragg, Harold Cambric (Esther), Joyce Cambric, Nadine Holland (Alfred) and Patricia Cambric and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and former co-workers.
