May 29, 1956 - April 10, 2021
On May 29, 1956 a beautiful baby girl was born to the parents of Italy Holiday and Virginia Nelson in Hempstead, TX where she was raised and attended grade through high school. She was a graduate of the Hempstead High School class of 1974. After completion of high school, Gloria went on to pursue a higher education at Prairie View A&M University College of Business where she graduated with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration. She held a deep love and pride for her university, so much so that she began her career journey as an administrative assistant at the Prairie View A&M Department of Public Safety for over 30 years before retirement. Gloria accepted Jesus Christ at an early age at Bethlehem United Methodist Church where she spent her youth and part of adulthood. In 2004, she was baptized and united with Prairie View Church of Christ. In 2005, she joined and fellowshipped with Hempstead Church of Christ until the day she parted ways on earth. Gloria truly had a love and passion for Jesus Christ and despite her diagnosis and daily challenges her faith never wavered. You could frequently find her studying the bible to show thyself approved or on the phone having bible to study with Ms. Mary Ragston, Rosalyn, or Bruce Kirby to gain a better understanding of the Word. Gloria was also active within her community and was involved in the following organizations: Singleton Joy Chapter #377 Order of the Eastern Star (treasurer), Hempstead Touch Inc. (secretary), Waller County Retired Teachers Association, and served as a vacation bible school volunteer at Hempstead Church of Christ. Additionally, she was an avid lover of health and fitness and prior to her health challenges you could find her at the track, park, or Hempstead Recreational Center exercising and encouraging others along the way, while at the same time probably arguing with Kenneth Taylor as he pushed her through the exercise. Lastly, she deemed herself as President of the family early morning birthday wake up songs in only a voice that Gloria could belch. Her hobbies included: spending time with family and friends, playing spades, exercising, watching Dr. Oz, and shopping, shopping, shopping. Gloria is preceded in death by her father, Italy Holiday; mother, Virginia Nelson Davis; sister: Ollie Johnson; brother, Anthony Nelson Gloria Adam's love of life didn't come to an end with her death, Gloria passed away on April 10, 2021 at the age of 64 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest. She let her family know that she was no longer suffering as the song, "I'm Free" began to play in the background as she took her final breath. She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Willie Adams, Jr.; daughters: Gekeya Hazeley, Vanecia Adams (Bobby); son, Gregory Hazeley, Jr. (Wiyatta); grandchildren: Jalacia Powell, Gregory Hazeley III, Gabrielle Hazeley; great-grandchild, Lauryn Joe; brothers: Willie Ray Davis,Sr., Craig Hood; sisters: Betty Young, Gail Tarver; special cousins: Vickey Cole, Carolyn Watson; special friends: Pat Simon, Terry Simon; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
